These “pre-grammar” years are focused on developing an excellent foundation in reading, writing, and math. Kindergartners enjoy learning to manipulate numbers and letters. Kinderculture provides a passport to the world as students learn about God’s love for all people. Students study the geography, cuisine, dress, art and languages of various cultures around the world.
Memory Work: Mary Had a Little Lamb America the Beautiful, Try, Try Again, The Swing, Galatians 5:22-23
Reading: Titles include Grandfather’s Journey, A Pair of Red Clogs, The Kissing Hand, Green Eggs and Ham and various Nursery Rhymes
Writing: Students learn manuscript with Handwriting without Tears (HWOT). HWOT includes lots of funs songs and activities and even puppets to reinforce good writing technique.
Math: Saxon 1 and lots of manipulatives, crafts, coloring and activities
Kinderculture: The focus of Kinderculture is to orient students with God’s love for all people around the world. Students learn from experience some of those aspects that make each culture unique. Students create and fill their own passports as they travel to China, India, South America, Africa, Mexico and Italy to name a few. Unique cuisine, dress and projects bring the world right to their front door.
Art: Meet the Masters introduces us to famous artists around the world. Each year we rotate 7 new artists including: Monet, Degas, Escher, Cezanne, Homer, Mondrian, Warhol, van Gogh.
